Civil Litigation Services We Provide
Since entering private practice in 1996, I have handled numerous types of litigation in the Civil Division ranging from business disputes, commercial disputes, collection claims, bond actions, construction litigation, and mechanic's lien claims.
From 2001 to 2005 I served as co-counsel in a wrongful death action stemming from the aircraft crash of American Airlines Flight 587 which crashed shortly after takeoff from LaGuardia Airport in New York City in November, 2001. The aircraft was headed for the Dominican Republic and our client was the spouse of the decedent who tragically lost her life in the crash. Such cases are very complicated as they are considered mass tort litigation claims that are brought in the Federal Courts which have jurisdiction over the matter. Also, the claims are very complex as to the ability to make a claim depends on the choice of law and jurisdiction of the court which will preside over the claim, in addition to the types of claims that could be brought, such as, pre-accident terror, wrongful death, and the loss of consortium by a family member. After several years of litigation, in 2005 we were able to present our damages claim before the Federal District Court presiding in New York City and resolved the matter with a favorable settlement for our client.
In Florida, our firm has handled numerous civil litigation claims and have proceeded to trial in many different types of cases, obtaining very favorable jury verdict awards for our clients.
